Charity Dinner Onboard HMS Victory

Wow, what an evening! Last weekend I was lucky enough to be asked along to another Winchester Hospice charity event. It was an exclusive evening with a private tour of The Mary Rose followed by dinner on board HMS Victory. Hosted by none other than The First Sea Lord (head of the Royal Navy to you and I) it was a privilege to be invited along.

If you haven’t visited HMS Victory or The Mary Rose I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. The history of these two ships is incredible. The ships themselves are wonderful to visit at any time but to have dinner aboard is something very unique. There was one enormous table dining some 32 guests with the remainder dinning on tables amongst the cannons! The low ceilings, hanging lamps and the smell of the ship made for a very special environment. The main purpose of the event is to raise money for Winchester Hospice. The event raised an incredible £17,000 for the charity which aims to build Winchester’s first Hospice to care for the terminally ill.
